How it Works

One or more large wind turbines are located on or near the industrial site at a mutually acceptable location, so as to secure a clear flow of wind while avoiding compromising the present or future operations of the plant and meeting all safety requirements. The turbines are connected directly into the site electrical system, removing the need for a new grid connection and avoiding use of system charges for the electricity consumed. Developing a wind energy project is a complex, high-risk undertaking and is both labour and capital-intensive.

Renewable Power Generation Ltd. as the developer, develops, permits, purchases, installs and operates the wind power generation plant. The industrial site owner has no capital outlay. They just need to make space available for the installation and purchase the generated power. The advantage for them is a lower cost fixed fuels source of electricity which will have a stable predictable price over the lifetime of the project.

Project benefits

  • Lower cost electricity
  • Known forward electricity pricing
  • Hedge against future energy price increases and possible carbon charging
  • Power used on site avoids cost of imported electricity
  • Unproductive land used to reduce overall costs
  • No costs or risk to the landowner
